Since the day it came out, the iPhone has been everyone's favorite item to try to hack or unlock. Unfortunately, the ideas that came out, while functional, probably weren't geared toward the average user. Between intricate soldering and complex programs to run, the mentality has still been to wait and see what came down the road.

The guys at freeiphoneunlock.com appear to have come out with a graphical version of the iUnlock software they've been working on. Easier but not for the faint of heart, users must first upload data to their phone via iBrickr, iFuntastic of SFTP.

According to iPhone Alley, the unlock process requires about 20 minutes and the software currently lacks a progress bar, so it might be time to go out and take your constitutional as this runs (the developers have stated this will be changed in a future version and the unlock procedure itself should become much shorter).

So far, reports have been mixed but positive. If you're still squeamish about unlocking the iPhone, hold out for a bit until the software is out of the development stages.

If anyone's tried the unlock or has feedback of any kind, let us know in the comments or forums.
